Alysa Pires is an Honours BFA graduate from Ryerson Theatre School and completed her Dancer-in-Residency at the Heliconian Club of Toronto this past season. Her extensive career has brought original works to many dance companies across Canada, as well as her newly founded company, Alysa Pires Dance Projects, which made its full-length debut at the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival.
Her work in theatre includes choreography for ten musicals on an international scale in a series of world premiere plays by Judith Thompson, Velina Hasu Houston and Timberlake Wertenbaker. In July 2014, Alysa represented Canada and performed as part of the Tin Forest Theatre Festival in Glasgow, Scotland in celebration of the Commonwealth Games.
Alysa was the sole North American, and only female, selected as one of four international choreographers to participate in DanceEast’s ChoreoLab in Ipswich, UK in April 2013 and also participated in Toronto’s Emerging Artist Intensive in 2014.
